Faith, Our Everyday Assurance

What actually is faith?

Is faith an emotion or an action?

Why do I need faith?

Do I have faith?

Why is faith a crucial aspect of human existence?

These are some of the numerous questions we have contemplated. We live in an unpredictable world where nothing is certain and to ease our anxieties, we seek reassurance in life.

Faith serves as the reassurance and guarantee we need as we navigate through life. It acts as a secure foundation for the soul, offering peace and calmness during difficult times. Faith is an internal conviction that everything will be fine.

As humans, we crave certainty, as it is at the core of our existence. We desire to know what the future holds and if tomorrow will be alright.

We require faith in our daily lives because it provides that assurance we need. A significant portion of our lives is lived based on faith. Whether it’s taking a ride with a stranger, acquiring gadgets, or buying food. We have faith that the food is safe to eat and won’t harm us. When we purchase gadgets, we inquire about the warranty period and hope that they will function properly without any issues. When we use these gadgets, we have confidence that they will last because someone has made a promise. However, human promises are not always enduring.

Let’s examine the biblical perspective on faith.

Hebrews 11:6 says; But without faith, it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. (NKJV)

It is important to note that God is a spiritual being and cannot be perceived through our physical senses. We catch a glimpse of him through faith. Faith is seeing the unseen.

Every one of us possesses faith, but the difference between the faith of a Christian and the faith of the world is that the world believes in what it can see, whereas we believe in the words of a God we cannot see.

God has promised us a future and an expected end. His words provide us with assurance for our everyday lives. We please God when we believe in his existence and his faithfulness that he is capable of fulfilling his promises. Through faith, we obtain his blessings. Through faith, we invite God into our lives, and we become a reflection of the God we believe in.

There will be times in our lives when the things we earnestly prayed for aren’t coming forth. Faith is that confidence we have in God to bring to manifestation his promises no matter how long it takes. Faith is holding on to God’s word in difficult times. Faith, often times doesn’t take away our difficult seasons but gives us strength and assurance as we navigate through life’s challenges. Faith makes us a victor over the storms of life.

Lastly,  faith is not an emotion but rather an action.
